Legendary Fish Guide: How to Catch All 5 (and Their Relatives)

Where and when to catch every legendary fish in Stardew Valley — Legend, Crimsonfish, Angler, Glacierfish, and Mutant Carp.

The five legendary fish are the hardest catches in Stardew Valley — and the ultimate test of your fishing skill. Each can only be caught once per save, so you’ll want to know exactly where and when to look.

The five legendary fish

Fish Location Season Weather Fishing level
Legend Legend Mountain Lake Spring Rainy 10
Crimsonfish Crimsonfish Beach (east pier) Summer Any 5
Angler Angler River (north of JojaMart) Fall Any 3
Glacierfish Glacierfish Cindersap Forest (south tip) Winter Any 6
Mutant Carp Mutant Carp The Sewers Any Any —

The Mutant Carp is the odd one out — it lives in the Sewers (unlocked with the Rusty Key) and can be caught in any season.

Exact spots (this matters)

The legendary fish don’t spawn in the whole body of water — you need to cast into the right tile:

  • Legend: The Mountain Lake, cast toward the submerged log in the deep water. Rain required.
  • Crimsonfish: The beach, cast from the east pier (the long dock east of the beach).
  • Angler: The river, cast north of the JojaMart bridge.
  • Glacierfish: Cindersap Forest, cast from the southern tip of the island in the river.
  • Mutant Carp: Anywhere in the Sewer water.

How to prepare

  1. Max your Fishing skill (or at least hit the minimum). Eat a fishing-buff food like Fish Stew or Dish O’ The Sea.
  2. Use the Iridium Rod with the Trap Bobber (slows fish escape) or Cork Bobber (bigger bar).
  3. Use bait to reduce bite time.
  4. Go on a good luck day to increase your chances.

The Legend requires Fishing level 10, so bring a fishing-buff food to push past the cap if you’re close.

The extended family (1.5+)

After you catch the originals, there’s a second generation hiding in the same spots:

  • Legend II — Mountain Lake.
  • Son of Crimsonfish — beach.
  • Ms. Angler — river.
  • Glacierfish Jr. — Cindersap Forest.
  • Radioactive Carp — Sewers.

The bottom line

The legendary fish are about preparation and patience. Max your fishing, pack buffs and the right tackle, hit the exact spawning tile, and wait for the right season and weather. Catch all five and you’ve officially mastered Stardew Valley fishing.
